Thai steamed wontons, known as Khanom Jeep (ขนมจีบ) in Thailand, are delicious bite-sized dumplings filled with a savoury pork and shrimp mixture, wrapped in delicate wonton wrappers, and steamed to perfection. They are often enjoyed for breakfast in Thailand and served with a flavourful soy dipping sauce. This recipe is simple, packed with authentic flavours, and perfect for sharing!
Ingredients:
Filling:
200 g ground pork
125 g shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
1 egg white (optional)
10 g spring onions, chopped
½ teaspoon ground pepper
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cane sugar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Wrappers:
12 wonton wrappers
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix all filling ingredients until well combined. Divide into 12 equal portions.
Place a portion of the filling in the center of a wonton wrapper. Spread the filling evenly within the wrapper (see images below).
